Missing 8-Year-Old Boy Found Safe
TAFT, Fla. -- Orlando police spent most of Saturday night and Sunday morning searching for 8-year-old Louis Maldonado, who went missing around 5:00 Saturday evening.
The boy was located at a family friend's house around 8:30 Sunday morning. He was found safe.
The search started after the boy's father flagged down a deputy on 4th Street in Taft Saturday Saturday night. The father told the deputy his son, Louis Maldonado, was missing and he hadn't seen him since 5:00.
Police were worried about the boy, fearing he had spent the entire night out in the cold.
"We sent two units initially, and when we couldn't find him and couldn't verify his whereabouts, we increased our search efforts," said Lt. John Holysz of the Orlando Police Department. Police used a helicopter and bloodhounds in their search efforts.
Maldonado was taken back to his home Sunday morning. Police say they are still investigating the incident.
