In this article, Prevatt's sister, Kelly Dodd, showed Action news a similar letter Thursday that was written to Prevatt's family. It is addressed to 'Nay Nay's' mom, Diane Prevatt.

"Me, Misty, White Boy Greg and Ronald's kid were at Chad's and Haleigh got a hold of some pills and died and White Boy put her in the trunk and we dropped her off in a pond, which is a lie," wrote Prevatt.

Dodd says her sister is telling the truth. "I think she was at her baby daddy's house," she said. "I don't think she had anything to do with it. I didn't think Misty did either because Misty was my friend, I knew her personally, really well since she was 14 and I didn't think something like this would happen," said Dodd.

In this article, First Coast News says it received the letter from a private investigator in the case. Chief Rick Ryan of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said, "We have absolutely no interest in the letter. The drama perpetuated by the release of this is completely irresponsible."

New speculation in the case of missing Haleigh Cummings centers on a jailhouse letter from an acquaintance of Misty Cummings saying she was questioned by police who were told the 5-year-old died from drugs she took during a party.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying a woman who left a tip about the HaLeigh Cummings case at The St. Augustine Record on Wednesday. The blonde woman, wearing blue scrubs, dropped an envelope off at the paper at 3 p.m., then quickly left the building.

Those with information about the woman in the video should call the Crimestoppers tip line at (888) 277-8477 or the Sheriff’s Office at (386) 329-0808.

The latest barrage of allegations and stories has family members of the missing girl in disbelief and sadness.

Her great-grandmother, Annette Sykes, said Haleigh had to take medication for respiratory problems and didn’t like it. “It was hard to get her to take medicine with a good flavor to it,” she said. “She didn’t like pills.” Sykes said she does not believe there was a party. “I just don’t put much stock in the letter,” she said.

Crystal Sheffield, Haleigh’s mother, said she was told by a deputy that the letter was meaningless. She said it was still worrying. “That’s really bothering me,” she said. “I couldn’t sleep last night. I’ve been pretty much crying last night and this morning.”

Prior tells First Coast News Reporter Monica Landeros that he made a copy of the letter, and gave the original to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

"They're looking at letter and envelope for fingerprints," said Prior.

He can't reveal what the letter says. However, Prior said it is one paragraph long, typed, and has three letters at the bottom that resemble initials.

"If the information is accurate, it's going to be pretty volatile," said Prior.
