River Edge police searching for missing 11-year-old boy
RIVER EDGE – Police are looking for an 11-year-old boy who was last seen on his way to school Monday morning.
Patrick McAndrews, a fifth-grader at Cherry Hill Elementary School, left home shortly before 8 a.m. Monday. He was walking to school when he realized he forgot his cell phone, said River Edge Police Chief Thomas Cariddi.
Patrick returned home, got the phone and continued on to school, Cariddi said. He was last seen on Valley Road.
Patrick never showed up for class, and was reported missing around 10 a.m., the chief said.
“We have nothing that indicates to us that this is an abduction,” Cariddi said. “We’re merely following every investigative lead.”
Police scoured the neighborhood Monday looking for Patrick and notified surrounding towns that he is missing. The River Edge Police Department is working in conjunction with the Bergen County Police Department and other local departments on the case, Cariddi said.
Patrick is white, has brown hair and brown eyes and wears glasses. He is four feet tall and weighs 75 pounds, Cariddi said.
He was last seen wearing blue pants, a pink shirt that says “5 Reasons Why I’m Wearing a Pink Shirt,” a lightweight blue jacket and a blue backpack.
Police are asking anyone with information about Patrick’s whereabouts to call the River Edge Police Department at (201)262-1233.
